To a solution of tert-butyl (2S,4R)-4-hydroxy-2-(propan-2-yl)pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate (500 mg, 2.180 mmol) dissolved in dichloromethane (5.4 mL) was added trifluoroacetic acid (1.8 mL). The reaction was stirred for 16 hours at room temperature. The mixture was concentrated to afford (3R,5S)-5-(propan-2-yl)pyrrolidin-3-ol as a TFA salt. 1H NMR (500 MHz, CDCl3) δ 3.91-3.62 (m, 1H), 3.60-3.36 (m, 2H), 2.47-2.10 (m, 2H), 2.05-1.79 (m, 2H), 1.07 (d, J=6.6, 3H), 1.01 (d, J=6.7, 3H).
