A mixture of C-[3-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-5-methyl-isoxazol-4-yl]-methylamine (620 mg, 3.0 mmol), methyl 6-chloronicotinate (516 mg, 3.0 mmol), N,N-diisopropyl ethyl amine (1.0 mL, 6.0 mmol) and DMSO (6 mL) was heated in the microwave to 160° C. for 2 h. The mixture was then diluted with ice-water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic extracts were then washed with brine and dried over sodium sulfate. Concentration and purification by chromatography (SiO2, heptane:ethyl acetate=100:0 to 1:1 then dichloromethane:methanol 97:3) afforded the title compound (335 mg, 33%) as a white foam. MS: m/e=342.1 [M+H]+.
