Procedure
Methylamine (7 ml) was added to 7-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)-2,2-dimethyl-4-(1-naphthyl)chroman (3.3g., 0.0092 moles) in ethanol (7 ml) and the solution left to stand at room temperature for 48 hours. Removal of solvent gave the title compound as a dark coloured oil which was converted to the hydrochloride salt. Recrystallization from 1 : 1 petroleum ether: ether gave a grey solid (0.85g., 24%) m.p. 96°-100° C.
