Procedure
2,2-Diethoxyethylamine (23.3 grams), 2-bromomethyl-1,3-dioxane (29.2 grams), triethylamine (25 ml) and toluene (150 ml) are charged into a glass reaction vessel equipped with a mechanical stirrer, thermometer and reflux condenser. The reaction mixture is heated at reflux overnight. After this time the mixture is cooled and filtered. The filtrate is then distilled under reduced pressure to yield the desired product N-(2,2-diethoxyethyl)-N-(1,3-dioxan-2-ylmethyl)amine.
