To a suspension of lithium aluminum hydride (0.424 g) in tetrahydrofuran (20 mL), a solution of the compound obtained from step c above (2 g) in tetrahydrofuran (10 mL) was added at −20° C. The reaction mixture was stirred for 2 hours at 30° C. and a saturated solution of sodium sulphate was added at the same temperature. The reaction mixture was then filtered through a celite pad and the residue was washed with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue thus obtained was purified by column chromatography over silica gel using 50% ethyl acetate in hexane as eluant to afford the title compound (1.2 g).
