Methyl 2-methylthio-6,7-dihydro-5H-benzocycloheptene-8-carboxylate was synthesized by carrying out reactions according to the methods described in Reference Example 1, (a) to (c), except for using the 3-methylthio-6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-5H-benzocyclohepten-5-one obtained in the above item (b).
