To a mixture of N-benzyl-N-ethyl-7,8-dihydro-7-methyl-8-oxo-2-phenyl-9H-purin-9-acetamide (0.8 g) obtained in Example 146 and ethanol (15 ml) is added 30% hydrochloric acid in ethanol (15 ml) at 80° C., and the mixture is stirred for 30 minutes. The reaction mixture is cooled to room temperature, and the precipitates are collected by filtration, and washed with ethanol to give the desired compound (0.85 g).
