Reaction Steps
14.9 g of butyl benzofur-3-yl-glycolate and 26.6 of lead tetraacetate are refluxed for 8 hours in 125 ml of absolute benzene. After working up as described in Example 15, 8.7 g (59% of theory) of an oil, boiling point 132°-136° C. (1 Torr), nD20 =1.537, are obtained.
