A solution of 2.00 g (10.3 mmol) 1,1-diphenylpropene and 2.09 g (10.4 mmol) 85% m-chloroperbenzoic acid in 15 ml dichloromethane was stirred in the dark at room temperature for 4 hours. The mixture was partitioned between dichloromethane and saturated K2CO3 solution and the organic layer was washed with brine and dried over Na2SO4. This was concentrated to give 2.14 g (98%) of 2,2-diphenyl-3-methyloxirane as a colorless oil.
