(R)-t-Butyl 2-[3-(1-pyrrolidinyl)-1-propynyl]-1-pyrrolidinecarboxylate (11.06 g, 0.039 mol) was dissolved in methanolic HCl (200 mL) and stirred at room temperature for 2 hr. The reaction was evaporated under house and high vacuum to give a beige solid which was recrystallized from methanol:ether to give 9.5 g of product. The analytical sample was recrystallized from methanol:ether; m.p. 214°-216° C. [α]D +21° (c 0.55, MeOH).
