The title compound was prepared as described in Example 9 starting with 4-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-ethylamino-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropyrido[4,3-d]pyrimidine hydrochloride (3.0 g, 9.3 mmol) and iodoethane (0.74 mL, 18.5 mmol) to produce 2.9 g (100%) of 4-(4-chlorophenyl)-6-ethyl-2- ethylamino-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropyrido[4,3-d]pyrimidine. m.p. 129°-132° C. MS: 317 (MH+).
