4.5 g (30 mmol) of 5-fluoro-1-indanone and 20 ml of pyridine and 20 ml of ethanol were heated to 80° C. with 2.3 g (33 mmol) of hydroxylamine hydrochloride for 6 h. The solvents were distilled off, the residue was stirred with water and the precipitate was filtered off with suction and dried under reduced pressure. This procedure gave 4.8 g of 5-fluoro-1-indanoneoxime; m.p. 150-155° C.
