Procedure

A mixture of 5.18 g. (0.01 mole) 3-{3-[4-(2-acetoxybenzamido)-piperidino]-propoxy}-7,8,9,10-tetrahydro-6H-dibenzo[b,d]pyran-6-one (compound of Example 47), 20 ml. dioxane and 20 ml. 6 N hydrochloric acid is heated under reflux for 10 hours, cooled and filtered. There are obtained 3.0 g. (63% of theory) of the desired compound in the form of its hydrochloride; m.p. 232°-234° C. The corresponding free base melts at 209°-211° C.
