After dissolving 6-methoxy-4-(4-nitrophenoxy)quinolin-7-ol (1.0 g) in dimethylfbrmamide (10 ml), there were added trifluoromethanesulfonic acid4-nitrophenyl ester (640 mg) and potassium carbonate (1.3 g), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 5 hours. Water was added, extraction was performed with ethyl acetate, the organic layer was washed with water and saturated brine in that order and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure. Ethyl acetate was used for recrystallization to obtain the title compound (1.0 g).
