Procedure

74 mg of tert-butyl [2-(2-hydroxymethylbenzofuran-5-ylamino)ethyl]methylcarbamate are dissolved in 10 ml of HCl/dioxane (4N) and stirred at room temperature for two hours. Evaporation in a rotary evaporator gives 59 mg of the desired product (HCl salt).
