(4S)-3(tert-Butyloxycarbonyl)thiazolidine-4-carboxamide (8.6 g, 37.1 mmol) was dissolved in 4M HCl/dioxan (50 ml). The mixture was stirred for 1 hour at room temperature then the solvent was evaporated in vacuo to give a white solid identified as (4R)-thiazolidinecarboxamide hydrochloride (6.2 g, 36.8 mmol, 99%).
