Procedure

To a vigorously stirred solution of 0.3 g of the product from Step 3 in 5 mL of THF cooled at −78° C. was added dropwise a solution of diisobutylaluminum hydride (4 mL, 1 M in hexane). After stirring for 30 minutes at −78° C., the reaction was quenched with 1 mL of acetone followed by 10 mL of 20% aqueous solution of potassium sodium tartrate. The mixture was extracted with 20 mL of 1:1 hexane/EtOAc and the extract was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel flash chromatography eluted with 8:1 hexane/EtOAc to give 0.19 g of the title compound as an oil.
