To the product of Step 2 (130 mg, 0.39 mmol) in EtOH (3 mL) was added Pd/C 10% (40 mg). The mixture was hydrogenated with a Parr hydrogenator at 50 psi for 45 minutes, filtered on a pad of celite, and the filtrate evaporated to dryness and used as such in the next step.
