Procedure
A solution of 3-[2-(bromomethyl)-4-chlorophenyl]-4-chloro-1,2,5-thiadiazole (0.193 g, 0.60 mmol) and sodium azide (38.7 mg, 0.60 mmol) in DMF (0.6 mL) was stirred at 60° C. for 16 h. The solution was partitioned between water and ether. The organic phase was separated, washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4) and reduced in vacuo. 3-[2-(Azidomethyl)-4-chlorophenyl]-4-chloro-1,2,5-thiadiazole was isolated as an oil. MS m/z=258.5.
