Procedure
2-(Hydroxymethyl-3-chlorophenyl)-3-carboxypyridine was dissolved in a solution of methylene chloride/glacial acetic acid (5:1). Pyridinium dichromate (10.95 g, 29 mmoles) was added and the solution was stirred at room temperature under an inert atmosphere. The solvent was removed yielding 2-(3-chlorobenzoyl)-3-carboxypyridine.
