Procedure
4-Allyl-1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]octan-3-one, 57 (17.66 g, 107 mmol), benzaldehyde (12.49 g, 117 mmol) and sodium hydroxide (0.46 g, 11.5 mmol) were dissolved in 80 ml of ethanol, and the resultant mixture was heated at reflux for 1 hour. After the mixture was cooled down, yellow solids were collected to provide 4-allyl-2-benzylidene-1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]octane-3-one (26.66 g, 98%).
