Methyl 3-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-2-[3-(prop-1-yloxy)benzoyl]propenoate (7.4 g, 2.0 mmol) was dissolved in trifluoroacetic acid (50 mL) at 0° C. and the mixture stirred at room temperature for 20 min.. The trifluoroacetic acid was removed in vacuo to give the title compound (6.4 g, 87 %) as a white solid after trituration with warm isopropanol m.p. 106°-108° C. Anal. Calc. for C21H20O6 : C, 68.47; H, 5.47. Found: C, 68.12; H, 5.41.
