Procedure
Fifteen grams of 2-(3-dimethylaminopropoxy)benzal-dehyde and 8.1 g of glycinamide, hydrochloride are reacted in 300 ml of ethanol in the presence of 4.8 g of 85% potassium hydroxide as described in Example 1 to give 20 g of a crude semi-solid product. The crude product is triturated with 100 ml of isopropyl ether and cooled to yield 17.9 g of solid; melting point 71-73° C (sintering at 60° C).
