Reaction Steps

All procedures were the same as for preparation of compound 1 except that diethylene glycol monobutyl ether (45.3 mL, 260 mmoles) was used. After filtering the sodium bromide precipitate and concentrating the filtrate, the product was chromatographed on silica gel (eluents: toluene, 2.5% ethyl acetate in toluene, then 5% ethyl acetate in toluene), to produce a 60% yield of colorless liquid.
