Procedure
5.0 g (0.035 mole) of 2,6-diamino-4-chloropyrimidine are dissolved in 70 ml of anhydrous ethyl alcohol. 7 ml of a 70% aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution and 14 ml of acetic anhydride are dropped into it while stirring at a temperature of 40° C. in half an hour. The mixture is stirred at 60° C. for further two hours, then it is cooled and the flaky crystals are filtered out, washed with ethanol and dried. Thus 2.67 g (38%) of 2-acetamido-4-chloro-6-aminopyrimidine-1-oxide are obtained.
