To a flask containing 1-(2,2-difluorobenzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-yl)-N-(5-methyl-6-(6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyridin-3-yl)pyridin-2-yl)cyclopropanecarboxamide (0.15 g, 0.35 mmol), methyl chloroacetate (0.19 g, 1.8 mmol), and potassium carbonate (0.5 g, 3.5 mmol) was added dichloroethane (7 mL) and the reaction mixture was heated to 100° C. in a sealed tube overnight. The reaction was diluted with dichloromethane (15 mL) and washed with water (10 mL). The organics were dried over sodium sulfate and evaporated to dryness. The crude reaction was purified by silica gel chromatography (eluting with 0-10% methanol in dichloromethane) to give the product (0.13 g, 76%). ESI-MS m/z calc. 497.14. found 498.3 (M+1)+ Retention time 1.73 minutes.
