Procedure
To 1-(2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-5-yl)-N-(2′-methoxy-3-methyl-2,3′-bipyridin-6-yl)cyclopropanecarboxamide (87 mg, 0.2 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (1 mL) was added 0.5 mL of an aqueous 4 M hydrochloric acid solution. The reaction mixture was heated to 90° C. for 30 minutes before being quenched with triethlyamine (0.5 mL) and evaporated to dryness. The residue was dissolved in N,N-dimethylformamide (1 mL) and purified by reverse-phase preparative liquid chromatography. The resulting trifluoroacetic acid salt was dissolved in dichloromethane (5 mL) and washed with a saturated sodium bicarbonate solution. The organics were dried over sodium sulfate and evaporated to dryness to yield the product (27 mg, 32%) ESI-MS m/z calc. 387.43. found 388.5 (M+1)+.
