5-(Imino-morpholin-4-yl-methyl)-3,4-dihydro-1H-isoquinoline-2-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester 27a (0.24 g, 0.69 mmol) was dissolved to room temperature in 10 mL of 10% trifluoroacetic acid in dichloromethane and stirred to room temperature for 18 h. The volatiles were evaporated, the residue was suspended in toluene and evaporated again. The residue was purified by flash chromatography eluting with 7% methanol in dichloromethane containing 0.7% of ammonium hydroxide to yield 0.179 g of 5-(imino-morpholin-4-yl-methyl)-3,4-dihydro-1H-isoquinoline 28a.
