(±)-(E)-3-{1′-Methyl-3,4-dihydro-4-oxo-spiro[2H-(1,3)-benzoxazine-2,3′-piperidin]-6-yl}-acrylic acid methyl ester was synthesized starting from Intermediate 5 (300 mg, 0.88 mmol), according to the procedure described in Example 40, Step A, using formaldehyde (0.85 ml, 1.1 mmol) and NaBH3CN (68 mg, 1.1 mmol). The product was obtained as a white solid (240 mg).
