8-(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)-2-((E)-((Z)-(4-iodopyridin-2(1H)-ylidene)hydrazono)methyl)quinoline was weighed into a 1 neck flask and dissolved in THF. Iodobenzene diacetate (IBD) (4.199 g) was added portionwise, and the reaction was stirred for 5 minutes. The reaction was quenched with saturated Na2S2O3 (20 mL). The phases were separated, followed by extraction of the aqueous phase with DCM. The combined organics were dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo. The crude material was purified by flash column chromatography (eluting with a 2:1 mixture of Hexanes/ethyl acetate), affording the desired product.
