Oxallylchloride (285 mg, 2.24 mmol) was added to a solution of 4-oxo-2-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-4H-chromene-8-carboxylic acid 35 (250 mg, 0.75 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (15 mL) followed by DMF (1 drop). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 12 h. The volatiles were concentrated and the crude residue was dissolved in CH2Cl2. The solvent was evaporated and the crude product dried under vacuum and used without further purification.
