Procedure
A solution of 2-amino-5-iodobenzoic acid (14.2 g, 50 mmol) and formamide (100 mL) was refluxed for 10 hours. After cooling to room temperature, water (100 mL) was added. The solid product was collected by filtration, washed with water. Further drying in a vacuum provided 6-Iodo-4-quinazolinone (11 g, 81%) as a gray solid.
