3,5-Bis-trifluoromethylbenzoyl chloride (36 mg, 0.13 mmol, CAS RN 1271-19-8) was added to a solution of methyl-(4-o-tolyl-pyridin-3-yl)-amine (20 mg, 0.10 mmol) and DIPEA (40 μL, 0.23 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (1 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred overnight and then loaded directly onto a silica gel column and eluted with 50% EtOAc in n-hexane to yield the desired product as a waxy solid (23 mg, 41%). MS (ESI): m/z=439.0 [M+H]+.
