Procedure

3,5-Diamino-6-chloro-pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester (25.0 g, 0.12 mol) and N,N-dimethylethylenediamine (100 mL) are heated at 100° C. in a miniclave for 20 h. The reaction mixture is concentrated in vacuo and the pale yellow crystals that form are collected by filtration, washed with MeOH and dried under vacuum to afford the title compound. [M+H]+ 259.
