Intermediate (17b) (4.3 g, 10 mmol) was dissolved in pyridine (40 mL, 500 mmol). Hydroxylamine hydrochloride (1.7 g, 25 mmol) was added, followed by the addition of water (20 mL, 1000 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. Water (30 mL) was added and the mixture was stirred for 20 minutes. The precipitant was filtered off and dried to yield intermediate (17c) (3.5 g). MS m/z: [M+H+] calcd for C26H29N3O4, 448.2. found 448.3.
