To a solution of (R)-6-tert-butoxycarbonylamino-2-(4-fluoro-3,5-dimethyl-phenylamino)-hexanoic acid methyl ester (2.000 g, 5.232 mmol) in 10 mL of dichloromethane, was added trifluoroacetic acid (10 mL). After stirring at room temperature for 19 h, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the residue dried in vacuum for overnight at room temperature. The crude product (1.200 g, 81% yield) was used directly in the next step without further purification. LC-MS: tR=4.8 min; m/z 283 (M+H)+.
