Procedure

420 mg (5.0 mmol) NaHCO3 and 402 mg (2.5 mmol) 2-(thiophen-2-yl)acetic acid chloride were added to a solution of 262 mg (1.0 mmol) [2-(2-phenylsulfanyl-ethylsulfanyl)-pyridin-3-yl]amine (VPF-006) in dioxane (25 ml) at 0° C. and then the mixture was stirred for 16 h at RT. Then it was diluted with EE and washed with water and brine. The organic phase was dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated to small volume under vacuum. Column chromatography (hexane/EE 9:1) of the residue yielded 186 mg (0.5 mmol, 48%) N-[2-(2-phenylsulfanyl-ethylsulfanyl)-pyridin-3-yl]-2-thiophen-2-yl acetamide. MS: m/z 387.1 [M+H]+.
