A mixture of 8-(4-hydroxy-phenyl)-1,3-dipropyl-7-(2-trimethylsilanyl-ethoxymethyl)-3,7-dihydro-purine-2,6-dione (0.100 g, 0.22 mmol) and potassium carbonate (0.076 g, 0.53 mmol), 1-(3-bromo-prop-1-ynyl)-4-trifluoromethoxy-benzene (prepared as given in example E1) (0.073 g, 0.26 mmol) in acetone (10 ml) was heated at 80° C. for 2 hours. The mixture was cooled to room temperature, filtered and washed with acetone. Solvent was evaporated to obtain a residue which was purified by preparative TLC to obtain 1,3-dipropyl-8-{4-[3-(4-trifluoromethoxy-phenyl)-prop-2-ynyloxy]-phenyl}-7-(2-trimethylsilanyl-ethoxymethyl)-3,7-dihydro-purine-2,6-dione as a pale yellow solid (0.053 g, 37%).
