A mixture of 1-propyl-8-[1-(3-p-tolyl-prop-2-ynyl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]-3,7-bis-(2-trimethylsilanyl-ethoxymethyl)-3,7-dihydro-purine-2,6-dione obtained in step 1 (0.035 g, 0.053 mmol;), 2 N HCl (1.5 ml), ethanol (3 ml) were heated at 85° C. for 6 hours. The mixture was cooled to 10-15° C. The solid obtained was filtered and washed with water (1 ml), ethanol (1 ml) to afford 1-propyl-8-[1-(3-p-tolyl-prop-2-ynyl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]-3,7-dihydro-purine-2,6-dione (0.009 g, 47%) as a brown solid.
