To a solution of {2-[2-(1,3-dioxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-vinyl]-phenyl}-acetic acid tert-butyl ester (1.95 g) in THF (50 mL) was added 10% Pd on carbon (1.00 g) and the reaction was hydrogenated on a Parr shaker at 50 psi for 24 h. The catalyst was removed by filtration through Celite with the aid of THF. The volatiles were removed in vacuo to provide the title compound (1.97 g). MS 383 (M+18).
