Procedure

The product of Example 9 was combined with pyridine·HCl and heated to 200° C. in an oil bath and reaction was monitored by TLC. After completion, it was cooled, diluted with NH4OH and extracted with ether. The resulting oil was purified (Silica; 9:1 pet ether/EtOAc) and characterized by NMR (300 MHz). Anal. Calc. for C24H28N2O3 ·HCl: C, 76.36; H, 6.59; N, 6.54. Found: C, 67.17; H, 6.74; N, 6.34.
