Reaction Steps
Ethyl 3-[(3,5-dichlorophenyl)amino]-2-methyl-2-methylthio-3-oxopropanoate, prepared in Example XC (Compound 261), was reacted with aqueous sodium hypochlorite in a water-methylene chloride mixture in a manner similar to that described in Example XCIII to give ethyl 3-[(3,5-dichlorophenyl)amino]-2-methyl-2-methylsulfinyl-3-oxopropanoate having a melting point of 124° C.-127° C.
