41.7 g of 2-(4-chlorophenylmethylamino)-5-fluoronitrobenzene, prepared in Example 1, re dissolved in 1 l of tetrahydrofuran and hydrogenated at ordinary temperature and pressure in the presence of 5 g of Raney nickel. When the theoretical amount of hydrogen has been absorbed, the catalyst is filtered off and the solvent is evaporated off under vacuum to give 34.1 g of 2-(4-chlorophenylmethylamino)-5-fluoroaniline in the form of crystals melting at 99° C.
