Procedure
A solution of 0.5 g (0.00113 mol) 2-(2-picolylseleno)-N-(4-pyridyl)benzamide dihydrochloride from Example 5 in 2 ml H2O is made alkaline with 10 N NaOH and extracted twice with 5 ml portions of dichloromethane. The organic phase is dried over magnesium sulfate, the solvent removed and the crude product recrystallized from 15 ml 2-propanol.
