Procedure
Ethyl 2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-(4-methylbenzyloxyimino)acetate (syn isomer, 4.00 g.), 1 N sodium hydroxide solution (19.5 ml.), 1-methylimidazole (214 mg.), methanol (40 ml.) and tetrahydrofuran (25 ml.) were treated in a similar manner that of Example P-(4) to give 2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-(4-methylbenzyloxyimino)acetic acid (syn isomer, 3.42 g.).
