To a solution of 3-chloro-2-nitrobenzoic acid (1 mmol) and aminomethylenediethyl phosphonate (1.1 mmol) in dichloromethane (5 mL)was added diisopropylethylamine (5 mmol) followed by pyBOP (1.5 mmol). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 3 h and concentrated. The mixture was purified by chromatography to yield N-(diethylphosphonomethyl)-2-nitro-3-chlorobenzamide as a solid.
