To a stirred suspension of the (5R)-3-(3,4-dihydro-4-methyl-3-oxo-2H-1,4-benzothiazin-7-yl)-2-oxo-5-oxazolidinecarboxylic acid methyl ester (EXAMPLE 62, Step 5, 200 mg, 0.6205 mmol) in MeOH (3 mL) is added a 2.0 M solution of methylamine in MeOH (2.0 mL). This mixture is stirred for 30 min at which time the reaction is concentrated under reduced pressure, washed with ethyl ether (6 mL) and filtered to give the title compound as a white solid (190 mg, 95%), 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO) δ 8.38 (d, 1H), 7.63 (d, 1H), 7.46 (dd, 1H), 7.27 (d, 1H), 5.05 (dd, 1H), 4.27 (t, 1H), 4.01 (dd, 1H), 3.52 (s, 2H), 3.32 (s, 3H), 2.65 (d, 3H); MS for C14H15N3O4SMS m/z 322.5 (M+H)+.
