2,4-Difluoronitrobenzene was treated with L-alanine according to the procedure for the preparation of (R)-2-(4-fluoro-2-nitrophenylamino)-butyric acid (see Example 1) to yield N-(5-fluoro-2-nitrophenyl)-L-alanine. MS (ESI) m/z 229 ([M+H]+); MS (ESI) m/z 227 ([M−H]−); Anal. Calcd for C9H9FN2O4: C, 47.37; H, 3.98; N, 12.28. Found: C, 47.61; H, 4.23; N, 12.39.
