Procedure
5-(3-fluorophenyl)furan-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester (250 mg, 1.14 mmol) was dissolved in DMF (3 ml), to which 2 M guanidine solution (3.4 ml, 6.8 mmol) prepared in Example 1 was added, followed by stirring at room temperature for 2 hours. After completion of the reaction, the solution was added with saturated brine (20 ml) and extracted with ethyl acetate (30 ml×3). The organic layer was washed with 10% brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate (MgSO4), and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (5% methanol/dichloromethane), to give 252 mg of a title compound (yield: 89%).
