To 2-{2-[1-ethyl-3-(4-trifluoromethoxyphenyl)ureido]indan-5-ylsulfanyl}-2-methylpropionic acid tert butyl ester (4.8 g; 8.91 mmol) dissolved in CH2Cl2 (15 mL) is added TFA (15 mL) and the reaction was stirred at RT for 2 h. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by flash chromatography (SiO2) eluting with a hexanes-EtOAc gradient to afford 3.13 g (73%) of 2-{2-[1-ethyl-3-(4-trifluoromethoxyphenyl)ureido]indan-5-ylsulfanyl}-2-methylpropionic acid as a white solid.
